Brand new, unique in every aspect of life and the results of the most miraculous event of a life – birth.
Natural or assisted pregnancy miracle method creates a new life from only two cells in space less than the size of a fist. He stays curled up for a while content in his warm, wet and hopefully secure position.
When born, he stays in that curled up fetal position still content for a while before straightening his arms and legs.
This stage like many others will pass quickly.
As his brain begins filtering and processing information, his reflex actions start to develop first. That is natural for any species to survive in a natural world.
“Moro,” or startle reflex is the first for of these reflexes. He arches his back, extends and pushes his arms and legs in response to loud noises. He may cry based on the level of startle.
Even during sleep he may react this way for a few months.
Babinski reflex is another newborn sensory response. In response to stroking the sole of his foot, he bends back his big toe and fans out his other toes. If this reflex remains after the age of two or in adults, it could be sign of some serious medical conditions.
Step reflex happens when he begins a stepping action as soon as you hold him upright and bring his feet in touch with the ground.
Tongue-thrust in a newborn is not bad manners; it is a reflex action of pushing tongue out when you place something on it.
The last may not be technically a reflex action but still a survival mechanism that rules baby’s and those who care for them.
That is food and sleep.
In the womb, the fetus is nourished continuously and rests.
Once born, those needs are communicated through the simple act of crying in what seems to be continuous.
They need to be fed every two or three hours around the clock. When you think about it, that is far less frequent than what they are used to.
Begin fed every minute of every hour vs every two or three hours. No wonder they cry.
It is hard for a new parent to listen to the baby and withhold food until the right time. And it is hard for them as well to recognize different reasons for crying.
Sometimes crying signals natural adaptations and sometimes it hints at something more serious.
How parents stay sane during the process of figuring things out is a pregnancy miracle by itself.
